Did you remember to hit save? We did—with our publication, Ctrl + S—a student-led journal centered on the voices of Cleveland Institute of Art students, amplifying individual creative expression and inclusively representing student experiences through visual and written work.

Ctrl + S draws inspiration from the universal keyboard shortcut for saving, symbolizing preservation, intentionality, and the value of student voices. Its design direction blends digital nostalgia with contemporary editorial aesthetics, crafting a visual language that bridges the gap between screen and print—honoring both the immediacy of digital culture and the permanence of physical media.
Applications
The Ctrl + S project spans multiple touchpoints to create a rich, immersive experience. The print journal features editorial spreads highlighting student artwork, essays, and interviews, while a digital companion offers an interactive web version enhanced with motion graphics and embedded media. To support the launch and foster community engagement, event branding includes posters, zines, and installations showcased at gallery events.
